EAST BARRE – Douglas N. Robbins, 77, of Prospect Street, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 31, 2017, at the Barre Gardens (formerly Rowan Court). His family was at his bedside.

Born August 7, 1939 in East Montpelier, he was the son of James and Doris (Martel) Robbins, Sr.

Doug attended school in Orange and Barre before joining the U.S. Army, serving until he was honorably discharged.

On September 15, 1962 he married the love of his life, Rosa Cutler in the Hedding United Methodist Church in Barre. After their marriage, they lived in Barre for six years before moving to Barre Town, eventually settling in East Barre in 2002.

Doug worked in construction for some time before being employed in the granite industry for over 30 years.

He was a member of the Barre Lodge of Elks #1535. In his spare time Doug enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to camp, spending time with his family and his beloved pets.

Survivors include his devoted wife, Rosa Robbins of East Barre; and his daughter Cindy Gosselin and her husband, Benny of West Topsham; his grandson Travis Roy; his brothers James Robbins, Jr. and his wife, Ruthie of Orange; Richard “Dick” Robbins and his wife, Judy of South Barre; his sisters Eleanor MacAuley and her husband, Roger of Barre Town; Marilyn Gamble and her husband, Ted of Nevada; his sisters-in-law Ellen Robbins of Barre Town; and Joyce Boyes and her husband, Raymond, Sr., of Townsend, MA; as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Robert Robbins.

The graveside service to honor and celebrate his life will be held on Monday, August 7, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in Wilson Cemetery in Barre Town.
