BARRE CITY – Dorothy Anne Hayward, 65, of Prospect Street, passed into the loving arms of Jesus at her home on Wednesday night, January 7, 2015. Her family was with her at her bedside.
Born on March 5, 1949 in Barre City, she was the daughter of Paul and Grace (Holt) Ford and attended local schools, graduating from Twinfield High School in 1967.
She had been a faithful employee of the Barre City School System for over 23 years, working at the Mathewson School, Barre City Elementary School and Spaulding High School.
In 1971 she married Clarence Hayward in the Barre Universalist Church, with the couple making their home in the Barre area all their married life, most recently on Prospect Street.
Doing arts and crafts, collecting stuffed pigs and a love for animals were special to her along with cherished time spent with her family and especially her grandchildren, Will and Alissa.
Besides her husband Clarence, she is survived by two sons; Ron and Randy Hayward, along with a daughter Roxanna Hayward all of Barre. Also surviving is a brother, Harry Ford, and a sister, Barbara Ford, six grandchildren and nieces, nephews and cousins.
A sister, Emma and two brothers; Thomas and William predeceased her.
Her funeral service will be held Friday, January 16, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street Barre, followed by entombment in the Hooker and Whitcomb Vault, with a spring interment in the Nesmith Cemetery in Marshfield.
There are no calling hours.
