EAST BARRE – Doris Peake, 82, of East Barre, died Sunday, March 8, 2015 at Rowan Court Nursing Home in Barre surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Doris was born in Barre on May 27, 1932. She was the daughter of the late Edward E. and Myrtie (Payne) Batchelder.
In 1950 she married Ralph W. Peake, Jr. who survives her.
She was an active member of the Barre Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses for more information on the wonderful hope Doris looked forward to of life on earth in a peaceful paradise please see JW.org
Doris worked for the Trade Center, Grants, and Jones Brothers. She also worked for Home Health and performed private caregiving.
Doris will be remembered for her hospitality toward all. She was a born nurturer who cared, not only for her own family, but for many others as well. Her generous cooking will be remembered and, in particular, many carry the memory of not being allowed to leave her home until they ate with the family.
Doris is survived by her children Larry Peake, David Peake, Beverly Page, Edward Peake, Brian Peake, Melissa Beede and Andrew Peake. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren and one sister-in-law Marlene Batchelder.
Doris was predeceased by a brother Ernest Batchelder and one great grandchild.
The family of Doris Peake would like to extend their deep gratitude toward Project Independence, Rowan Court Nursing Home, TLC and Green Mountain Transit Authority.
Her funeral will be held Saturday, March 21, 2015 at the Barre Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses at 3:00 p.m. friends and family may call from 2:00 – 2:45 p.m. Burial at Wilson Cemetery in Barre Town will be conducted at a later date.
