Donna Mary Stacy

EAST MONTPELIER - Donna Mary Stacy, 82, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 26, 2024, at Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin.

Born on December 1, 1941, in Montpelier, she was raised by her mother, Alba Amelia Piccioli. She grew up in Barre, alongside her sisters, Helen and Muriel, where she attended Barre City Grade School and graduated from Spaulding High School.

Donna married Leo Stacy and raised two daughters, Cathy and Cheryl, in Berlin. She worked for both the State of Vermont and U-32 High School while raising her family and was active in the PTA and the boosters club while her daughters attended school. Later, she retired from the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources.

She was always in attendance at dance recitals, sporting events, and any and all major milestones in her grandchildren’s lives. Donna enjoyed reading, watching sports, and spending time with family. She especially liked her Boston Red Sox, the Boston Bruins, and the Chicago Bulls and also enjoyed watching tennis and golf.

Donna lived in East Montpelier with her daughter, Cheryl, and son-in-law, Mike Rus. Later in life, her health forced her to live at Woodridge Nursing Home under the care of the loving and compassionate staff that, in a short amount of time, became part of her extended family.

Survivors include her two daughters Cathy and Cheryl; Cheryl’s husband, Mike; her four grandchildren Stacy (Renot), Trevor (Dani), Michael (Ali), and Gabby—all of whom loved her dearly, as well as her seven great-grandchildren Luke, Millie, Laura, Tripp, Corey, Dean, and Eva; her two sisters Helen Weed and Muriel (Gary) Pletzer; and her nieces and nephews Aaron (Wendy), Karen, and Gary (Courtney) and their children.

In addition to her mother Alba, she was predeceased by her brother-in-law Ed Weed and her niece Anna Pletzer.

The graveside service will to honor and celebrate her life on Monday, June 3, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the Berlin Corner Cemetery, Berlin. Following the service, a luncheon will be held at the home of Cheryl and Mike Rus, 3240 Towne Hill Road, East Montpelier.

The family would like to thank the kind and compassionate staff at Woodridge Nursing Home for taking care of Donna during her final months.
