BARRE – Donna Scalabrini, Forever 88, of Barre City passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, while surrounded by family. Donna was born in Barre, VT on September 16, 1937, to Brandon Charles and Edna Edith Dudley. Donna married the love of her life, Henry Scalabrini, on September 19, 1958. They resided in Barre where they chose to raise their family.

Donna was a wonderful mother, grandparent, friend and neighbor. She lived life like a true Vermonter; full of grit and determination, independence, hard work and devotion to her family and perhaps was one of the most stubborn women you may have ever met. Donna’s porch was often the main attraction and gathering place and as best said by her precious neighbors, we will miss being “Donna’d” on a regular basis.

Donna is survived by her daughters, Paula Lafreniere (Steve) of N. Fort Myers, FL, Brenda Scalabrini of Barre and son James Scalabrini of Easthampton, MA. Grandchildren, Tara Paluilis, Marc Lafreniere (Ashlynn), Amy Scalabrini (Ed) and Isabella Scalabrini. Great Grandchildren Aidan Patterson, Teegan Lafreniere, Gavin Paluilis, Maelyn Lafreniere and Della Paluilis. Donna is also survived by her sister Marilyn Ford and her brothers John and Steve Dudley.

In addition to her parents and her most favorite man in the world, her husband Henry, Donna was also predeceased by her brothers William, Jerry and Tim Dudley and her cherished kittens, Bingo, Muffin and Bonnie.

In respect of Donna’s wishes, there will be no service. She will be laid to rest in Wilson Cemetery, in Barre Town at the convenience of her family.
