BARRE – Donna Darlene Matthew, 78, of Prospect Street passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Barre Gardens Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born on April 17, 1947, in Ottumwa, Iowa, she was the daughter of Raymond Dale and Marjorie Lee (Abernathy) Fountain. She attended Round Point Graded School and graduated from Cardinal Community High School in 1965. After high school, she attended the Midwestern Baptist Seminary in Pontiac, MI where she obtained a degree in 1969 in Christian Education.

In 1975, she married Kenny Matthew, following their marriage, they made their home in Ottumwa, Iowa.

Donna was employed as a preschool teacher and teacher of the deaf in Iowa before she joined the staff as a Missionary to the Navajo Indians in New Mexico.

She was a member of the Ottumwa Baptist Temple and Websterville Baptist Church for many years.

Survivors include her brothers Donald L. Fountain and Kenneth F. Fountain and her sister Beverly A. Croteau.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Kenny Matthew.

The service to honor and celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in the Websterville Baptist Church, 143 Church Hill Road, Websterville, VT. There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Websterville Christian Academy, PO Box 1, Websterville, VT 05678.
