In 1968 Donald began working as a driver for a mail delivery contracting company for the U.S. Postal Service and eventually became owner in 1985. He ran the delivery firm until his retirement in 2006.

Throughout his life he had many hobbies and interests, but the most important to him was listening to country music, hunting, fishing, and caring for his animals, especially his cat “cuddles”.
