SOUTH BARRE – Dolores P. Mattote, 83, of the South Barre Road, died Sunday, October 14, 2018 at the Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin.
Born August 5, 1935 in Barre, she was the daughter of Everett Ivor and Pauline Ellen (Collins) Griffith. She attended elementary school in Barre and graduated from Spaulding High School in 1953.
On April 12, 1957, Dolores married Wendell Silas Mattote in Berlin. Following their marriage, they made their home in Barre before moving to South Barre in 1962. He died on October 24, 2005.
In earlier years, Dolores was a nurses’ aide at the former St. Jude Nursing Home in South Barre.
As a homemaker, she took great pride in maintaining her home and caring for her family. She especially enjoyed shopping, her dogs and cats, reading, and watching the Price Is Right on television.
Survivors include her children, Mark Mattote and his wife, Tammy of Williamstown, Michael Mattote of Barre, Lisa Mattote of South Barre and Bradley Mattote and his wife, Jill of Brookfield; eight grandchildren, Jamie, Bobby, Sasha, Birquette, Mathew, Brianne, Jason, and Jeffrey; a great-granddaughter, Brinley; her sisters, Gail Barclay and her husband, Bernard of Barre and Sandra Wilder of Chapin, SC.
Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Everett Griffith Jr.
A graveside service to honor and celebrate Dolores’ life will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. in the Wilson Cemetery in Websterville. There are no calling hours.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre.
