CABOT – Dennis C. Searles, 76, a longtime resident of South Walden Road, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March, 8, 2026, at his home. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Born on December 8, 1949, in St. Johnsbury, he was the son of Robert Searles and Marion (Nunn) Meigs. He attended elementary school in Barre and graduated from Spaulding High School in 1968.
Following his schooling, Dennis enlisted in the United States Army, where he served in Germany before being honorably discharged as a Specialist in 1971.
On October 24, 1974, he married the love of his life, Evelyn Keith, at a ceremony held in Cabot. The two made their home there where they raised their children.
Dennis worked for many years at Price Chopper in the Meat Department. Some of his favorite hobbies were hunting, fishing, woodworking, archery, playing horseshoes and playing cribbage.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Searles; his children Michael Searles (Bill DelGaudio) and Jody Lee Searles; his siblings Tina Dindo (Mike), Bobby Searles (Stephanie), Jason Searles (Candace) and Chrissy Searles (Annette). He also leaves his sister-in-law Lisa Searles, his brother-in-law Robert Leblanc as well as eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings Edwin Searles, Paul Searles and Sherry Leblanc; and his stepfather Arthur Meiggs and stepmother Mary Searles.
A graveside service to honor and celebrate Dennis’s life will be held on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. in the Hope Cemetery in Barre. Followed by a gathering at his home in Cabot. There are no calling hours.
