ORANGE – Dennis Jenkins, 82, of Vermont Route 302, passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2023, at his home with his family at his bedside.
Born on October 26, 1940, in Graniteville. He was the son of Alfred and Hester (Whipple) Jenkins. He attended elementary school in Graniteville and graduated from Williamstown High School. After graduation, he attended the St. Johnsbury Trade School.
In June of 1962 he married Betty Potter in Washington. Following their marriage, they made their home in Orange. Betty passed away on May 5, 2019.
Dennis was a carpenter and in his spare time, he enjoyed antiquing, attending yard sales, collecting, reading, playing cards and hunting. He also had an antique shop for many years.
Survivors include his children Roseanne Carroll, David and Alfred Jenkins all of Orange, and Brian Smith of East Topsham; his grandchildren Trayce, AJ, Danielle, Natosha, Samantha, Nathan, and Nathan Smith; his great-grandchildren Lilye, Katie, Mikey, Kaia, Barrett, Evelyn, Landon, John, Jameson, Kyleigh, Cameron, Carsyn, and Chandler as well as his brother Harold Jenkins.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Betty Jenkins, his daughter Sonja Jenkins and his brothers Alfred, Roland, Jaime, and Robert.
The service to honor and celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. in the Christ Community Alliance Church on Route 302 in Orange. Interment will take place in the Brook Haven Cemetery in Orange immediately following the service.
Family and friends may call on Friday, October 20, 2023, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the Hooker Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre.
