PLAINFIELD – Dennis L. Dix, 89, a longtime resident of Cameron Road, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, May 12, 2025.
Born on August 6, 1935, in Plainfield, Vermont, Dennis was the son of Leon and Madeline (Cassavoy) Dix. He attended Plainfield schools and remained a proud Vermonter throughout his life.
On December 3, 1960, he married Betty Maddock at the Websterville Baptist Church in Barre Town. Together, they built a home and life in Plainfield where they raised four children.
A self-employed logger by trade, Dennis embodied the spirit of Vermont. In his spare time, he enjoyed building projects, taking trips to Maine, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, working on his equipment, and spending time in the woods. He was a true outdoorsman who loved nature and working with his hands.
Dennis is survived by his three daughters Paula McAnall (Denny), Tammy Clark (Bobby), and Emily McCoy (Kelly), six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, his sister Dianna Myrick (Darrell), sister-in-law Judy Dix, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his wife, Betty Dix; his son, Dayton Dix; his brother, Norman Dix; his sister, Nancy Perry; and his parents.
A graveside service to honor and celebrate Dennis’s life will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Plain-Mont Cemetery, located at 4723 U.S. Route 2 in East Montpelier. There will be no calling hours.
