BOSCAWEN, NH – Delia Rose Emerson, 81, of the Merrimack County Nursing Home, died Sunday, July 23, 2017 at the Concord Hospital in Concord, NH.
Born April 11, 1936 in Peabody, MA, she was the daughter of Joseph A. and Blanche A. (Tetreault) Dumas. She graduated from St. John’s Parish High School for Girls in Peabody, MA in 1954.
Delia worked at CBS Hytron in Danvers MA where she met and married Kenneth Emerson on January 25, 1957. Delia left CBS in 1960 to begin raising their family in Saugus, MA. In 1973, the family moved to East Montpelier, VT.
Dee loved spending time with her family, her children and grandchildren. She was kind and considerate, always willing to help others. Dee gave her time and skills freely and we all benefited from the goodness she carried in her heart. She loved reading, gardening, playing BINGO and cards (especially 31 and Crazy 8’s), sitting on the porch at the Washington Street Apartments watching the entertainment during the Annual Heritage Festival (Barre VT). She enjoyed eating lobster and strawberry shortcake and watching the Boston Red Sox.
Survivors include: five children, Laureen Drolet and her husband Al of Concord, NH, Jennifer Brault and her husband, Jeff and their children Matthew of Florence, SC and Shaun and Heather Loati of Barre, VT; Pamela LaCount and her husband David, and their children Jordan and Elias of Worcester, VT, Scott Emerson of Costa Rica and Kenneth Emerson and his wife, Kelly and their children Isaac and Aidan of Sandpoint, ID; a sister, Mary Hunt of Epping, NH, two brothers, Paul Dumas of Peabody, MA and Father Emile Dumas of Maryknoll, NY and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Emma Harrank and Yvonne Bulger, two brothers, Charles Dumas and William Dumas and her former spouse, Kenneth Emerson.
The Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Monica’s Catholic Church, 79 Summer Street, Barre, VT. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre.
Inurnment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, 226 North St., Salem, MA on Friday, August 11, 2017 at 11a.m.
