WILIAMSTOWN – David “Dave” Reginald Poirier, 78, of Chelsea Road passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at the Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin with his family at his bedside.

Born April 8, 1940 in Bath, NH, he was the son of Reginald and Evelyn (Rollins) Poirier. Dave graduated from Spaulding High School with the class of 1958.

After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in Manchester, NH and served in Vietnam as an A1C before being honorably discharged in Roswell, NM.

On July 7, 1962 he married Guitiana (Kay) Bulman in Roswell, NM where they first made their home before moving to Williamstown.

Dave was a crane operator and truck driver for several local Granite Sheds for over forty years.

He was a member of the Williamstown United Federated Church as well as a member of the Friday Nighters Bowling League for over 30 years, he also played on a Men’s Over 30 Softball team.

In his spare time, Dave enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, cooking, sugaring, watching his birds and working in his woodpile.

Survivors include his wife Guitiana (Kay) Poirier of Williamstown; his daughter Susan Bernier and her husband, Jim of East Barre and their daughter, Brittany; his daughter Debra Watts and her husband, Larry of Barre and their son Dylan and daughter, Stephanie and her fiancée, Mike; his daughter Nancy Poirier of Williamstown; his son Jeffrey Poirier and his wife, Amy of Barre and their son, Seth; and his daughter Lauri Arsenault of Websterville and her sons, Trevor and Tanner; five step-grandchildren; seven step-great grandchildren; and his sisters Gail Poirier of Websterville and Sheila Laperle of Barre.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Yvonne Deuso, nephews Greg Laperle and Reggie Deuso, and special aunt and uncle June and Arland Parker.

The service to honor and celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. in the United Federated Church, Route 14, Williamstown, VT 05679. Family and friends may call on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre. Entombment will take place in the Hooker and Whitcomb Vault to await later interment in the Village Cemetery in Williamstown.

Memorial contributions may be made to Central Vermont Home Health and Hospice, 600 Granger Road, Barre, VT 05641, or to the United Federated Church, PO Box 438, Williamstown, VT 05679.

Dave’s family would like to thank caregiver and neighbor, Fonda Perkins and all the people who came to the hospital to say goodbye. Also, they would like to thank the staff at the Central Vermont Medical Center for their care and the use of the “comfort room”, and to Central Vermont Home Health and Hospice for their care during the last few months.
