WASHINGTON – Danny A. LaRochelle, 77, a long-time resident passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at the Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin.
Born on April 22, 1948, in Barre, he was the son of Marcel and Thelma (Bisson) LaRochelle, Sr. He attended elementary schools in East Barre and Barre City before graduating from Spaulding High School in the class of 1966. He was a member of the Army National Guard.
On October 11, 1974, he married Joann Vermette in the St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Washington. Following their marriage, they made their home in Washington.
He was employed by the State of Vermont, Agency of Transportation for over thirty years in the Highway Mapping Division.
In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, bowling, hunting, watching racing and attending races at Thunder Road, and he was a fan of the Boston Red Sox and New York Giants.
Survivors include his wife Joann LaRochelle of Washington, VT; his sister Jan and her husband, Fred of Dalton, MA; and sisters-in-law Janet LaRochelle of Barre Town and Bernadette and Linda Vermette, both of Washington, VT as well as an uncle, aunts, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Marcel “Buddy” LaRochelle, Jr., and his brother-in-law Armond “Mickey” Vermette.
The Mass of Christian Burial to honor and celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Monica Catholic Church, 79 Summer Street, Barre. Burial will follow the service in St. Sylvester Cemetery in Websterville. There are no calling hours.
