WILLIAMSTOWN – Clifford Midas Hebert, 89, a lifelong resident of Williamstown, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at the Central Vermont Medical Center.
Born on November 4, 1935, in Williamstown, he was the son of Midas and Agnes (LaValley) Hebert. He attended school in Williamstown. Following his schooling, Clifford enlisted in the Army National Guard where he served as a Field Communications Crewman and Infantry M-1 Marksman before being honorably discharged in 1958.
On June 15, 1957, Clifford married the love of his life, A’Della Mary Ellis, in a ceremony held at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Williamstown. The two made their home there where they raised their eight wonderful children.
He began working as a young man on his family farm helping his father. Eventually he went to work for Burrell Roofing Company where he worked for over 50 years until his retirement.
Clifford had many hobbies and interests throughout his life. The most important of those included hunting, fishing, puttering on projects around the house and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He and A’Della were longtime members of the congregation at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Williamstown.
Survivors include his wife, A’Della Hebert of Williamstown; his sons Tom Hebert and his wife, Janice of Louisville, KY, Andy Hebert of Plainfield, Gary Hebert and his wife, Maddy of Fayston and John Hebert and his wife, Liz of Barre Town; his daughters Ann Malinowski and her husband, Ed of Taunton, MA, Judy Hilferty and her husband, John of Northfield Falls, Louise Longchamp and her partner, Rick Guazzoni of Central Vermont and Donna Longchamp and her husband, Tim of Websterville; 21 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He also leaves his sister, Ruby Countermarsh and her husband, Donald of White River Junction, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, Clifford was predeceased by his siblings Wilfred Hebert, Dorothy Spencer, Blanche Countermarsh, Mae Charron, Homer Hebert, Raymond Hebert, Goldie Hebert and Ernest Hebert.
The Mass of Christian Burial to honor and celebrate his life will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Monica Catholic Church, 79 Summer Street, Barre. Family and friends may call on Saturday, February 8, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Hooker Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre. Interment will take place in the East Hill Cemetery in Williamstown at a time to be announced in the spring.
