Charlotte F. Gormsen
BARRE – Charlotte F. Gormsen, 80, of Nelson Street passed away on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin.
Born September 6, 1941, in Bronx, NY, she was the daughter of Charles and Alberta (Leone) Paradiso.
Charlotte attended elementary school in New York City and graduated from high school in Eastchester, New York. Following high school, she attended Alfred University where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree.
She was employed as a psychiatric nurse in New York, Maryland, and South Carolina before moving to Vermont where she provided home care to the elderly in the central Vermont area.
In her spare time, Charlotte loved spending time with and caring for her family and friends. She enjoyed watching her girls play softball and was their team’s biggest fan, always having a Band-Aid ready in her gigantic pocketbook. She was a wizard at crossword puzzles, possessing a massive vocabulary. She often got a good chuckle when her husband misused a word. Charlotte lived a simple life but impacted so many with her kind and giving nature.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Paul Gormsen; her children Jody Leone; Christine Abare and her husband, Trevor; Eric Gormsen; Deborah Gormsen and her husband, Corey Kelley; and Katherine Usle and her husband, Jason; her grandchildren Chase Dunham, Rachael Blanchard and her husband, Peter; Seth Wilde; and Grace Usle; her brother Michael Paradiso.
She was predeceased by her parents.
The service to honor and celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2021, from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m. at Cleora’s Carriage House at Reynolds House Inn, 102 South Main Street, Barre, VT. There are no calling hours.
