ORANGE - Charles Otis, of Orange, passed away on Monday, December 22, 2025, at his home with his loving family by his side.

Born on January 4, 1960, in Barre City, he was the son of Fernand and Dorothy (Bohannon) Otis. He attended Barre City schools and graduated from Spaulding High School in 1978. Following his graduation, he worked for a time in Connecticut, with his Uncle Harold. In 1979 he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served honorably until his discharge in 1985. While in the Air Force, he met his wife, Amy Rogers, and they were married in March 1980, at Mountain Home, Idaho. Following his discharge, Charles and Amy moved back to Barre and he started his career as a plumber, working first for Fuller Plumbing, then starting his own business, Otis Plumbing and Heating. He retired in 2022.

When he wasn't working, he loved spending time with his family and friends. He loved snowmobiling. But his real passion was muscle cars and trucks, especially his 1969 red AMX. He spent hours restoring them to their original condition and reselling them.

Survivors include his wife Amy, his daughter Kelly Carmichael (husband Joe Carmichael), his father Fernand Otis, his brothers Albert, Louis, and George Otis, and his sister Debbie Otis as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was predeceased by his mother Dorothy, his son Patrick, and his brother James Otis. A special thank you goes out to The Washington Snow Flyers Club and all the family and friends for the help and support they gave to Charles’ family. Also, Bayada Hospice for providing Charles comfort and care in his time of need.

A gathering to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Carpenter Park in Washington. There are no calling hours. Burial will take place in the Maple Hill Cemetery, in Washington, at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Washington Snow Flyers Club, PO Box 672, Washington, VT 05675.
