Charles R. Jensen

BARRE TOWN – Charles Richard Jensen, 60, passed away at home surrounded by family on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, after a courageous battle with multiple medical issues related to rheumatoid arthritis. He was a devoted follower of Christ and lived a life serving God; leaving a legacy of character and faith.

Born on September 29, 1964, in Montpelier, he was the son of Richard “Dick” and Patricia “Pat” (Batchelder) Jensen. Charles graduated from Spaulding High School with the class of 1982 and then attended Champlain College and Norwich University.

On March 24, 1990, he married Christine Persons at The Church of Christ in South Barre. Following their marriage, they made their home in Woodbury, raising their two children. Charles and Christine most recently made their home in Barre Town.

Charles was a member of the South Barre Church of Christ and later attended Barre Evangelical Free Church and most recently Crossroads Christian Church in East Montpelier.

Although he had many jobs prior, his career was spent working for Chittenden Bank, Vermont State Employees Credit Union, and most recently Northfield Savings Bank as a Mortgage Underwriter. Charles was devoted to providing for his family and worked various second jobs and also volunteered for the Woodbury Fire Department.

In his spare time, he enjoyed flea markets, antiquing, reading, vacations in Maine and most of all spending time with his family. Charles and Christine enjoyed various cruise vacations; they celebrated their 34th anniversary with a trip to Antigua, April 2024.

Survivors include his wife Christine Jensen of Barre Town; his son Sam Jensen and his wife, Melissa of Barre Town; his daughter Bekah Town and her husband, Justin of Washington, VT; his grandchildren who called him Poppy, Silas Paul Jensen and Bristol Eva Town; and his mother-in-law Shirley Persons also of Barre Town. He was predeceased by his parents and father-in-law Durward Persons.

The service to honor and celebrate his life will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025, at 11:30am at Crossroads Christian Church, 115 Fassett Road, East Montpelier.  Following the service, interment will take place at Wilson Cemetery in Lower Websterville. Family and friends may call on Thursday, May 29, 2025, from 5pm to 7pm at Hooker Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre.

His family would like to extend their deepest gratitude for the outpouring of prayers, love and support; and for the compassionate care shown to Charles by his extensive group of doctors and nurses, including the care he received from CVHHH.
