MARSHFIELD - Charlene Louise (Liberty) Kugl passed away peacefully on Friday, October 25, 2024, at the age of 82, after struggling with complications from heart disease.
Born on August 5, 1942, in Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of Charles William Liberty of Morrisville, VT and Margeret Ruth Michaud of Walden, VT. Charlene grew up with her parents and two sisters Carol and Michelle, in different locations due to her father being a Navy Chief Petty Officer in the time of war. She graduated from Pennsbury High School in Yardley, Pennsylvania.
Charlene moved to Southern California where she met her husband, Andrew Kugl and married in 1964. She enjoyed working as a Registered Nurse in California until 1987 when she retired with her husband. She often reflected on the years that followed when she travelled extensively and RV’d throughout the United States and Canada. After travelling, she would settle down in Vermont which she had always viewed as home.
She was loved by friends and family throughout her days. Charlene was warm, generous, and kind. Much of her working years as a nurse and in volunteering, Charlene was gifted in her ability to help others.
Survivors include her daughter Lisa Olsen and her husband, David of VT, her son Joseph Posusney and his wife, Cyndi of SC, and her son Andrew Kugl and granddaughters Ava and Mia Kugl of CA as well as her sister Michelle Thompson of CA.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Andrew Kugl, her grandson Andrew Johann Kugl and her sister Carol DeMarcello.
The service to honor and celebrate her life will be held Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the Hooker Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Twin Valley Senior Center (Meals on Wheels Program), PO Box 152, East Montpelier, VT 05641.
