Catherine Theresa Lash

BARRE - Catherine Theresa Lash, 55, finally found peace Monday, Dec. 12, 2016 after a long, courageous battle with cancer.

​​            Born June 2, 1961 in Newport, she was the daughter of the late Adrian and Constance (Dykeman) LeClair. Raised in Barre, Cathy graduated from Spaulding High School in 1979 and was proudly employed by Central Vermont Medical Center (CVMC) since 1983. She was especially gratified by her work as a member of the CVMC Cancer Committee and at the Cancer Center, taking great joy in the relationships she formed with her coworkers.

​​            Cathy adored her family more than anything. Her children were the most important people in her life and she loved them dearly. Working long hours to make sure they were taken care of, Cathy still always found time to be there for her kids. She also was delighted to become a grandmother (Nana) in early 2016, a role she seemed destined to play.

​​            Finding beauty in the world around her, Cathy enjoyed the simple things in life. She treasured taking trips to Lake Elmore, soaking up the splendor and recalling fondly the time she spent as a child at her family’s camp there. She especially valued lively discussions and sharing of memories with her loved ones.

​​            Cathy will be remembered for her kindness, gentle nature and unwavering positivity in the face of tremendous adversity. She was a special person, always glad to offer a helping hand, a kind smile and a good word.

​​            Survivors include her sons, Matthew A.M. Lash and his wife, Chantelle, of Boston, Mass., and Adam M. Lash of Barre; her granddaughter Aviva; her pups Scooby and Trista; her brother Frederick LeClair; numerous cousins and dear friends, including Brenda Norway, Pam Lawson, Linda (Poulin) Gregoire and Tyler Johnson.

​​            She was predeceased by her parents, whom she loved and missed dearly.

​​            A celebration of Cathy’s life will be held on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016 at 1 p.m. in the St. Monica Catholic Church in Barre.
