OAKLAND, CA - The family of Carolyn Jeanette Young, sadly relate her passing in Oakland, California on April 14, 2025.

Born on October 8, 1931, in Hartford Connecticut, Carolyn was the second daughter of Lincoln Ruckley and Sybil (Smith) Young of West Hartford, Connecticut and sister to Lincoln Young and Eleanor Lord.

Carolyn graduated High School from the Oxford School and went on to college at Vassar College and later the Katherine Gibbs School. Carolyn met and married her ex-husband The Rev. Charles P. Calcagni at Immanuel Church in Hartford, Connecticut. She lived with her husband who was a minister for congregations in Warren, VT; Springfield, VT; Exeter, NH; Manhasset, NY and South Pasadena, CA. Following her divorce with Charles, she moved to New York City and finally Oakland, CA. She was a docent at the Asia Society and The Metropolitan Opera in New York and the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco.

She is survived by daughter Ellen Ford, son Charles Calcagni and grandchildren Connor Ford, Madelina Calcagni and Chloe Calcagni.

There will be a memorial service for Carolyn at St. James Church surrounded by loving family in New York on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment will take place on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with a graveside service at Hope Cemetery in Barre, VT.  There are no calling hours.
