BURLINGTON – Carol A. Hunsinger, of Woodbury, VT, passed away on Friday, June 25, 2021.

Born in New York City in 1931, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Adeline (Dalia) Cerina.  She grew up in East Hartford, CT, graduating from East Hartford High School in 1949.  She received he teaching degree from Willimantic State Teachers College (ESCU) in 1953.  After a first marriage, she married the late Walter W. Hunsinger and resided in Groton Long Point, CT, where she lived for forty years.

In 2007, Carol was convinced by her youngest daughter to move to the Green Mountains of Vermont.  After spending time in rural Woodbury, her love of theatre and museums led her to Burlington.  A true people person, Carol collected life stories and held each one dear.  She cared for her family and friends with ferocity.  Her animated storytelling was second to none and one could always tell a good story was coming when hearing, “Now, let me tell you what REALLY happened!”

Her four daughters, Laura Pieper of Wallingford, CT; Jane Perry of Berlin, VT; Mary Martel of Sterling, CT; and Maggie Ferreira of Woodbury, VT were her pride and joy, however the true jewels in her crown were her six grandsons Jonathan Ferreira, Colin Pieper, Morgan Ferreira, Brett Pieper, Brendan Ferreira and Christopher Pieper.  She leaves a great-grandson Quincy Ferreira and great-granddaughters Kamber, Adeline and Everly Pieper, as well as her brother Joseph Cerina of Coventry, CT and her nephew Joe Cerina of Londonderry, VT.

Upon Carol’s request, services will be held privately.

Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the Vermont GAL Program, Office of the Court Administrator, 109 State Street, Montpelier, VT  05609.
