East Barre

EAST BARRE – Candace L. Stewart, 60, of Vermont Route 110, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 9, 2026.

Born on March 18, 1965, in Littleton, NH, she was the daughter of Richard and Mable Joyce (Farnham) Swift. She attended Barre Town Elementary School and Spaulding High School.

On November 23, 1984, she married Randall D. Stewart in Barre. Following their marriage, they made their home in East Barre.

Candace worked in the grocery business for almost 40 years including Harry’s, Finest, Grand Union, Shaw’s, and Hannaford’s. In between working for these stores, she became an LNA and loved taking care of her patients. For the last five years, she worked for Roland’s Mini Mart and had recently been promoted to manager, which was so deserved after working many dedicated hours. She was very proud of her new position.

In her spare time, she enjoyed playing Bingo.

Candace loved her cat Norman, who she inherited after her father’s passing, and she also loved her dog Molly. We know that they were both waiting for her at the Rainbow Bridge.

Survivors include her husband Randall D. Stewart of East Barre, VT; her son Joshua R. (Emily) Stewart also of East Barre, VT; and her daughter Holly C. Stewart of Saco, ME; her grandchildren Monica, Adriana, Andrew, Austin, and Chloe; her brother Peter Swift of Barre, VT and her sister Sarah Carlyle of Williamstown, VT as well as two nieces and one nephew.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her nephew Devin Swift and her brother-in-law Bobby Carlyle.

A life celebration will be held in the Spring at a date and time to be announced.
