WILLIAMSTOWN – Burton Luther Bailey, 78, of Flint Road passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at the Berlin Health and Rehabilitation Center with his family at his bedside.

Born January 1, 1941 in Barre City, he was the son of J. Frank and Hazel (Williams) Bailey. He attended local elementary schools and graduated from Williamstown High School in 1958.

On March 1, 1959 he married Marjorie Stone in Williamstown, following their marriage, they first made their home on the dairy farm on Vesper Road that Burton bought in 1958. In 1967, Burton and Marjorie moved the family to a farm on Flint Road where they later built a new barn.   In addition to being a life-long dairy farmer, Burton started a gravel business in 1990.

When not working, Burton loved hunting and fishing – teaching his children and grandchildren to love hunting and fishing as well. He also always enjoyed a good conversation.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Marjorie Bailey; his sons Tom Bailey and his wife, Sandie; and Jeff Bailey and his wife, Beth all of Williamstown; his grandchildren Sarah LaCroix and her husband, Marc; Josh Bailey and his partner, Heather Gonier; Heather Bailey and her partner, Matt Gilday; and Justin Bailey; his sisters Dorothy, Blanche, Edith and his brother David.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Richard Bailey, his sister Marion Christian and two infant children James and Janice Bailey.

The service to honor and celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Williamstown Lutheran Church, 2846 Graniteville Road, Williamstown. There are no calling hours. Inurnment will take place in the Williamstown Village Cemetery in the Spring.

The Bailey family would like to thank both the Barre Town and Williamstown Ambulance Services for their kindness and compassionate care.
