WILLIAMSTOWN - Bruce Arland DeForge, 82, a long-time resident of Weir Road, passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at his home.
Born January 22, 1937 in Duxbury, he was the son of Frank and Rena (Pecor) DeForge. He attended school in Duxbury and Williamstown eventually earning his high school diploma.
Bruce served in the U.S. Air Force at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada from 1956 to 1960 before he was honorably discharged.
He married Hazel Grant and following their marriage they made their home in the Williamstown area.
An electrician by trade, Bruce was employed by the State Department of Labor and Industry as an electrical inspector until his retirement at the age of 62.
In his spare time, he enjoyed watching the Red Sox and walking around the apple orchard. He had a great love of children, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his daughter Sharon Davis and her husband, John of Dallas, TX; his sons Warren DeForge of Barre, and Brian DeForge of Williamstown; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; his siblings Ronnie, Elmer, Roberta and “Sis”; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by six brothers and four sisters.
Family and friends may call on Saturday, February 23, 2019 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre. Following the calling hours, entombment will be made in the Hooker and Whitcomb vault. A graveside service will be held in the Spring in St. Sylvester Cemetery in Lower Websterville.
