BARRE – Betty Ann Kelley, 67, of Washington Street, passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2016, at the Central Vermont Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Barre on February 14, 1949, she was the daughter of Leo and Irene (Papalardo) Smith. She attended elementary school in Moretown before moving to New York where she graduated from high school in 1967.
In 1985, she married Lawrence Kelley in Barre. Following their marriage they made their home in the Central Vermont area for the remainder of their lives.
During her life Betty worked as a bartender, nurse’s aide, seamstress and a “spiritual advisor”. In her spare time, she loved drawing pictures, crocheting, playing bingo and cards, and being an herbalist.
Survivors include her husband, Lawrence Kelley; her son Robert Papineau and his partner, Karin Steijger; her two daughters, Sherri Russell and her husband, Jason, and Shannon Papineau; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews; and her sister Mary Carrier and her husband, Eugene.
She was predeceased by her parents.
Calling hours and a time of fellowship to celebrate Betty’s life will held at the Barre American Legion Post #10 on Sunday October 9, 2016 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Interment will take place on a later date at the convenience of the family.
