WILLIAMSTOWN – Betty Ann Acebo, 89, of The Gardens, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2016, at the Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin.
Born on June 6, 1927 in Barre, she was the daughter of Walter and Blanche (Lafayette) Beams. Betty attended East Montpelier Elementary School, Montpelier High School, and graduated from Spaulding High School in Barre in 1945.
In November 1949, Betty married Richard “Red” Acebo in Plainfield. They lived on Bailey Street in Barre. Her husband died June 20, 1997. After his death, she moved to The Gardens in Williamstown.
Betty was a homemaker and a stay at home mother raising her son, Charles, and daughter, Vickie. After her children were grown, she worked in the office at Bond Auto Parts and later in the office at the National Life Insurance Company retiring from there in 1990.
She was a member of St. Monica’s Catholic Church in Barre. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her son, Charles “Chuck” Acebo and his life partner, Karen Gordon and her daughter, Vickie Acebo-Carns and her husband, Dan; her grandchildren, Tanner Acebo, Jesse Carns, and Allison Santonelli and her husband, Andy; one great-granddaughter, Callia; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her parents; three brothers, Donald, Robert, and Danny Beams; and two sisters, Loretta Ryan and Sandy Desrochers.
Her graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. in the St. Sylvester Cemetery in Websterville. Following the service, family and friends will gather at The Gardens in Williamstown for a time of fellowship and refreshments. There are no calling hours.
