WASHINGTON – Bernice Anna Beede, 93, a longtime resident of Hart Hollow Road, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at the Woodridge nursing and rehabilitation center in Berlin.
Born on May 13, 1932, in Brookfield, she was the daughter of Edwin and Ella (McAllister) Preston. She graduated from South Royalton High School in 1950.
On January 31, 1959, she married Kenneth C. Beede in a ceremony held in South Royalton. The two made their home in Washington where they raised their four wonderful children and ran the farm.
While she wasn’t busy with the family, Bernice enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles, word finds, crossword puzzles, quilting and knitting.
Survivors include her children Leon Beede and his wife, Lori, Howard Beede and his wife, Sherry, Hilda Beede, and Les Beede and his wife, Annette; her grandchildren Jon Chaloux and his wife, Rachel, Tyler Beede and his wife, Abbie and Ryan Beede. She also leaves five great-grandchildren Owen, Charlie, Lucian, Theo and Wells as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth, her siblings Theodore, Burton, Doris, Warren, Arnold, Anna, Mary, Agnes and Everett, and grandchildren Katelyn Beede and Chris Chaloux.
As per her wishes, Bernice will be interred in the Cheney Cemetery in Washington at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
