BARRE - Barent “Barry” William Stryker, III, 82, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, January 29, 2026, surrounded by the love and support of his family.
Born in Schenectady, NY and raised in East Corinth, VT, Barry was the son of Barent and Constance “Connie” (Block) Stryker.
He graduated from Bradford Academy and then went on to graduate from the University of VT College of Agriculture in 1966.
On June 24, 1967, he married Anne Elliott. After getting his masters in Agricultural Economics in 1969 the two of them moved to East Corinth to try farming. They purchased their land in Barre Town in 1970. It was at this time that he started his job with the UVM Extension Service, where he worked for 32 years, as well as continuing to farm the land in Barre Town.
From an early age he enjoyed doing things with his hands, such as fixing his equipment by himself. In his later years he enjoyed restoring old trucks with his good friend, Tim Stone. He had a strong work ethic and got great satisfaction from the land, enjoying farming, hunting, and snowmobiling.
After becoming a follower of Christ, he became more involved in the lives of others, encouraging and mentoring them. His family became even more important to him, and he enjoyed keeping up with their accomplishments.
He was a member of Websterville Baptist Church and served on the Board of Trustees for a number of years. Websterville Christian Academy was important to him, as he desired young people to grow up with an education centered on the Bible. He joined several trips with the New England Disaster Relief Organization, helping people in physical ways while also sharing Christ with them. More recently he enjoyed organizing a monthly men’s breakfast as well as being a part of a small group, both were important parts of his spiritual growth and fellowship with other believers.
Besides his wife Anne, he leaves his son, Todd; his daughters Amy and her husband, LeRoy Young, and Jenny and her husband, Chris Cloud; ten grandchildren Clay and his wife Lilly, Abi, Elli, Ethan, Tirian, Malachi, Colin, Camden, Colson, and Corban.
A memorial service will be held at on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the Websterville Baptist Church, 143 Church Hill Road, Websterville, VT. There are no calling hours.
