August T. Phillips, Sr.

Greensboro

GREENSBORO – August T. Phillips, Sr., 79, of Maggie’s Pond Road passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington.

Born May 11, 1939 in Hartford, Connecticut, he was the son of August and Mary Phillips. He attended local elementary schools and graduated from a technical school for Plumbing and Heating.

After graduation August became a general contractor and worked for John Karolinous, Stanley Kellis Plumbing and Heating, Bidwell Pump, JDC Enterprises and Sandemena     Plumbing and Heating all in the greater Hartford area. He was also employed by Mid-Town Tire while he lived in Connecticut.

In 1986, he and his wife, Carolyn moved to Vermont, making their home in Marshfield before eventually settling in Greensboro.   August was employed by the Town of Marshfield until his retirement. Carolyn passed away on October 22, 1998.

Survivors include his children, August T. Phillips, Jr., of Windsor, CT; Kenneth Phillips, Sr. and his wife, Debbie Olson of Cabot, VT; Rosemary Ksepka and her husband, Timothy of Marshfield, VT; Thomas Phillips, Sr., and his wife, Pamela of Windsor, CT; Timothy Phillips and his wife, Kathy, of Broad Brook, CT; and Kimberly Phillips of Vernon, CT; his sisters Louise Piwoski and her husband, Peter of Tolland, CT; Agnes Gagnon of Glastonbury, CT; as well as 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Carolyn Phillips; his daughter-in-law Joann Phillips; his granddaughter Holly Phillips, and his brother-in-law Richard Gagnon.

The graveside service to honor and celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Eaton Cemetery in Marshfield. There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ Covenant Ministries, Anglican Catholic Church, 167 Creamery Street, Marshfield, VT 05658.

August’s family would like to give special thanks to the staff of the Greensboro Nursing Home for the exceptional care that their father received while a resident there.
