WILLIAMSTOWN – Arland W. Parker, 89, of Vermont Route 64 passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at his home.
Born June 20, 1929 in Monkton, he was the son of Otis and Florence (Glover) Parker. He attended Brookfield elementary schools.
On June 19, 1948, he married June Alice Rollins. Following their marriage, they first made their home in Graniteville, moving to Waterbury and Websterville before eventually settling in Williamstown. June passed away on February 9, 2017.
Arland was a polisher and then became a sawyer for South Barre Granite Shed and later Cetrangelo. He later owned his own business doing building maintenance for UPS.
He was a member of the Green Mountain Gospel Church and the Canadian Club of Barre. In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling at Twin City Lanes and playing horseshoes. He loved hunting, fishing, camping at his camp in Grand Isle and most of all, loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his children, Belinda Bernier, Debra Dudley, Mark Parker and his wife, Laura; and Arland Carter and his wife, Lynn; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; his siblings Doug Parker, Hazel Geake, and Beverly Carminetti as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife June Parker, son Rickie Parker; great-grandson Brandon Bernier; and his siblings Clyde Parker, Irene Magoon, Chet Parker, and Eddie Parker.
Arland’s life will be honored and celebrated on Monday, January 28, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in the Williamstown United Federated Church. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre. Following the service, entombment will be made in the Hooker and Whitcomb Vault. Interment will take place in the Wilson Cemetery in Barre Town at the convenience of the family in the spring.
