Obituary

ST. ALBANS-Annette (Blaisdell) Skinner, of Jericho and St. Albans, Vermont, passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side on April 12, 2026, in St. Albans, Vermont, at the age of 80.

Born on August 21, 1945, Annette was the daughter of Thad and Doris (Avery) Blaisdell and grew up in Williamstown. She graduated from Williamstown High School in 1963 and went on to build a career at National Life Insurance Company where she spent thirty-four years, mostly in the Treasury Department. During her time there, she formed many friendships with her colleagues.

Annette loved animals, particularly cats, which she cared for throughout her life. She also enjoyed knitting until arthritis made it difficult to continue. Annette found joy in solving word puzzles and watching sports on television, with hockey and baseball among her favorites.

Annette was deeply devoted to her family and especially cherished her role as a grandmother.

Family was at the heart of Annette’s life. After retiring from National Life Insurance Company, she moved to Jericho with her daughter Ann (Skinner) Dutil and son-in-law Todd in 1998. There, she became a devoted caregiver to her two grandsons, Thad and Andrew. Her grandsons were the pride and joy of her life; she delighted in spending time with them and took great pride in helping to care for Thad after his autism diagnosis. Her unwavering support allowed her daughter to pursue her career while ensuring that the boys were lovingly cared for.

Annette is survived by her daughter, Ann Dutil of Jericho; her son-in-law, Todd; her grandsons, Thad and Andrew; her brother, Vince Blaisdell of Barre; her nephews, Brice and Aaron Blaisdell and their families; as well as cousins.

She was predeceased by her parents, Thad and Doris Blaisdell; her brother, Newton Blaisdell; her grandparents, Freeman and Elizabeth Avery and Ray and Daisy Blaisdell; as well as aunts and uncles.

In recent years, Annette resided at Franklin County Rehab Center in St. Albans, where she spent the last four years of her life surrounded by compassionate staff who adored her. Her warmth and kindness left an indelible mark on all who knew her.

Annette was a loving and devoted daughter to her parents and will also be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Franklin County Rehab Center as well as the providers and nurses at Northwestern Medical Center and the University of Vermont Medical Center.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Central Vermont Humane Society, 1589 VT-14, East Montpelier, VT 05651.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at East Randolph Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday, May 8, 2026, from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. at Hooker Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre.
