Marshfield

Marshfield – Connie Holt, 80, a longtime resident of Holt Road, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 4, 2018. Her loving family was with her at her bedside.

Born on October 8, 1938 in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of John and Lorraine (Graeff) Waechter. She attended local schools in Philadelphia and graduated high school in 1956. Following that she went on to attend the St. Agnes Hospital School of Nursing in Baltimore where she became a Registered Nurse upon graduation.

On November 5, 1966 she married the love of her life, Reginald James Holt in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Burlington. They made their home for the remainder of their lives in the Marshfield area, predominantly on Maple Hill, where they raised five wonderful children.

Connie worked at many healthcare facilities during her nursing career. Some of these included Bishop DeGroesbriand Hospital in Burlington, Heaton Hospital in Montpelier and the Central Vermont Medical Center. She decided to take an early retirement in 2007 in order to provide home care for her son who had been seriously injured in an accident. A majority of her life had been dedicated to the care and wellbeing of others.

Throughout her life, Connie was known as a major proponent for animal rights and was an avid donator to such causes as the ASPCA and the Humane Society.

Some of her other passions were horseback riding, taking care of her pets and spending time with her family and friends, especially on hot days at Joe’s Pond Beach.

Survivors include her husband Reginald; a daughter Karen Mosher of TN; her sons Patrick Holt and his wife Valerie, of TN; Michael Holt and Christopher Holt, both of Marshfield and Todd Holt and his wife Jennifer, of Barnet. She also leaves Karen and Jay’s children Kiali, Brock, and Macie; Patrick and Valerie’s children Dustin, Michael, Annikka and Annessa; Michael and Cindy’s daughter Hailee; Todd and Jennifer’s children Max and Emma; as well as Annikka's daughter Isabel, Connie's only great-grandchild.

She also leaves nieces and nephews; Travis, Todd, and Troy Randall; Wallace and Patricia Holt; Thomas Trafford Jr., Debbie Volk, and Pam Mckernan; and their extended families.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister Claire Trafford; brother-in-law Thomas Trafford, Sr.; mother-in-law Rena Mears and father-in-law Wallace Holt.
