WASHINGTON - Ann Sylvia Randall, 77, a long-time resident passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at the Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin. She was surrounded by her three devoted sons Keith, Dan, and Jay Randall. Ann had battled dementia for many years, and her family extends their deepest gratitude to the dedicated practitioners and nursing team at Woodridge for the compassionate care they provided over the past four years.
Ann was born and raised in Barre, in a warm and loving home. Her parents Bernard and Ada Peterson were caring and supportive parents. Ann’s father passed away when she was only 13, but she had a close relationship with her mother over her lifetime. She also shared a close bond with her brother Ronald and sister Nancy, relationships that remained important throughout her life.
After graduating from Spaulding High School in 1965, Ann married Francis Randall on January 15, 1966. Together, they built a life filled with family, laughter, and dedication. They started in a modest home in East Barre before settling into their forever home in Washington in 1969. Over the next few years, they welcomed their greatest joys Keith in 1970, Dan in 1971, and Jay in 1973.
Ann’s boys were her world. She poured her heart into being an engaged and loving mother, always present for them. Whether cheering from the stands at their sporting events, often the loudest and most recognized voice in the crowd, or simply offering her unwavering support, Ann’s dedication to her sons was unmatched.
As her children grew, Ann transitioned into a career at Vermont Mutual Insurance Company in 1988, where she worked diligently and advanced to the role of Underwriter before retiring in 2009. However, her greatest joy came from spending time with family, especially her six beloved grandchildren Madison, Alden, Hazen, Griffin, Easton, and Sofia. Known affectionately as Nana, she never missed an opportunity to spoil them with love, warm hugs, and goodie bags.
Ann had an adventurous spirit and a deep love for travel, particularly to places where she could bask in the warmth of the sun and the beauty of the ocean. Florida and Maine were among her favorite destinations, and she cherished every moment spent by the water. She also had a wide circle of friends who brought her joy, laughter, and companionship throughout her life.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Francis, her three sons Keith, Dan, and Jay, along with their wives, and her six cherished grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents Bernard and Ada Peterson, her brother Ronald, and her sister Nancy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the spring, with details to be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (act.alz.org) to honor her memory and support those affected by the disease.
