Anita A. Perreault

BARRE TOWN – Anita Alice Perreault, 91, a long-time resident of Hill Street, died Saturday, May 27, 2017 at the Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin where she had resided for the past two years. Her family who loved her was at her bedside.

Born in Washington, Vermont on August 23, 1925, she was the daughter of James and Bernice (Johannessen) Morren.

She attended elementary school in Barre Town and graduated from Portsmouth, NH High School in 1943.

On December 24, 1943 she married Joseph R. Perreault in Salina, KS. Following their marriage they lived in Salina, KS a short while, returning to Portsmouth, NH to live for several years. Later they moved to Barre Town where they resided for the rest of their lives. Joe died June 2, 1988. Following his death, she spent 12 years wintering in Lakeland, FL.

For nearly 10 years, Anita and Joe operated Perreault’s Grocery in Upper Graniteville. When they sold the store, Anita was later employed at the former Sprague Electric Company in Barre and for almost 20 years as a Customer Service Representative at the former Granite Savings Bank and Trust Company.

While living in Florida, she took up oil painting and enjoyed playing cards with family and friends and will be remembered as an avid bingo player for many years.

Her memberships included St. Monica Catholic Church, the Auxiliary to the Barre American Legion Post #10 and the Barre Canadian Club as well as belonging to the Barre Senior Center.

Survivors include her four daughters; Cheryl Gariboldi and her husband, Richard; Betty Cutler and her husband, John and Joanne Perreault all of Barre City, and Lynda Kennedy of Alpharetta, GA as well as 9 grandchildren; Timothy Gariboldi and his companion, Mary Beth Gacetta; Thomas Gariboldi and his wife, Joanne and Todd Gariboldi and his wife, Lisa; Christie Scott and her husband, Walker; and Marc Kennedy and his wife, Alexis; Tara Ziter; Jody Perusse; Jennifer Lyall and her husband, Lloyd and Jeff Perusse and his wife, Kerri; and 23 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Besides her husband Joe, she was predeceased by her parents and grandparents.

Anita’s life will be honored and remembered with her Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Monica Catholic Church in Barre City. There are no calling hours.

Interment next to her beloved husband will follow at the Hope Cemetery, also in Barre City.

The Perreault family extends their thanks to all of the staff at Woodridge and Dr. Lise Kowalski for their warm and loving care and support they gave to our mother and her family which will always be remembered.
