LOWER GRANITEVILLE — Anita E. Munson, 95, of Lower Graniteville, passed away on Jan. 3, 2015, in Northfield, Vermont, at Mayo Assisted Living, where they had moved to in October 2014.
She was born on Aug. 23, 1919, in Lisbon, New Hampshire, daughter of RoseAnna (Cotá) and Ovila Bernatchy.
They moved to Websterville, Vermont, in 1927. Anita attended school in Woodbury, Vermont, where they had moved in 1932. She loved to tell us how her parents moved and farmed to keep them fed during the Depression years. She moved back to Websterville in 1934 and completed her education with the Spaulding High School class of 1938.
On Sept. 10, 1938, Anita married Kenneth G. Seaver; they made their home in Washington, Vermont. Kenneth died on May 16, 1961.
On July 8, 1967, Anita married Raymond Munson from East Barre. They lived in East Barre until the early 1990s when they moved to their home on Groton Pond in Groton, Vermont. In 2004 they moved to Lower Graniteville, Vermont.
She worked at the state of Vermont business office in Waterbury, retiring in 1986. Anita enjoyed sewing, reading and making a home. She could cook anything and make it taste wonderful.
Anita has a blended family, five daughters, Elaine Curtis and partner Carole, Concord, New Hampshire; Nancy Ferno and husband Larry, Woodbury, Vermont; Diana “Sue” Frink and husband Kevin, Middlesex, Vermont; Carolyn “Snookie” Couture and husband Jacques, East Barre, Vermont; Cynthia Davenport and husband Shannon, Websterville, Vermont. Two sons Carroll “Bud” Munson and wife Corrine, of Barre Town, and Gary Munson and partner Donna, of East Barre.
Grandchildren: Ken, Norma (Chase) and Lance Ferno, Keith and Sara Murphy, Marc and Monique (Underhill) Couture, Clark, Caleb and Cyle Davenport, Amy (Gardner) and Thad Munson, Warren and Kara Morvan, Chris Paulson, Trevor Walters and Corey Poitras. She has 18 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents; two brothers, Tom and Bob Bernatchy; and her grandson David Murphy.
A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
