Barre

BARRE – Anita Alice Friot, 77, a longtime resident of Nelson Street passed away on Monday, March 4, 2024, at the Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin.

Born on July 31, 1946, in Montpelier, she was the daughter of Lesley and Ruth (Douglas) Frazier. Anita graduated from Montpelier High School in 1964 and graduated from the Thompson School of Nursing in Brattleboro in 1966.

In August of 1970, she met her beloved husband, Edwin, at The Tavern in Montpelier. They were married shortly after their first date.

Anita worked at the Heaton Hospital and at the Central Vermont Medical Center on “2 South” as a nurse for many years before joining the Barre City school system working as a paraprofessional, that she greatly enjoyed, before retiring in 2016.

In recent years, Anita loved spending time watching her garden bloom, going on long car rides with her husband, enjoying the holiday decorations at Christmas (her favorite holiday that she started planning for in July), visiting with family and friends, and, of course, being surrounded by her dogs. Anita loved accompanying her husband on his fishing adventures and owns bragging rights catching the biggest trout in the family.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Edwin, of Barre; her four children Nicole of Florida; Jodie and her spouse, James Connor of Andover, MA; Jeffrey and his spouse, Hollie of Worcester, VT; and Kaitlyn of Claremont, NH; her three grandchildren Ashley, Amelia, and Olivia; her three dogs and her two sisters Lillian Hudson of Fitzgerald, GA, and Stacy Frazier of Montpelier, VT; her aunt Wanda Malloy of Florida, and her brother-in-law Richard Friot of Middlesex, VT as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings Leslie, Michelle, and Richard.

The service to honor and celebrate her life will be held at a date and time to be announced later this Spring. There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Barre Congregational Church, PO Box 1320, Barre, VT  05641.

The family thanks Central Vermont Home Health and Hospice, Central Vermont Medical Center and all of their friends and neighbors, in particular, The Patterson family who cared for Anita.
