BARRE – Angelina Piro Chioldi, 92, a life-long resident of Barre, passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2016, at her home.
Born July 23, 1924, in Barre, she was the daughter of Angelo and Anita (Ferrati) Piro. Angelina attended Barre schools and graduated from Spaulding High School in the class of 1943. After graduating, she worked for the Granite City Creamery doing office work.
On November 23, 1946, she married Nevio Chioldi at the Barre Congregational Church. Two sons were born of this union, Stephen Chioldi and Dennis Chioldi. Later Angelina became a homemaker to raise her family.
During this time, since she was an experienced seamstress and being at home, she worked on dressmaking and alterations and did bridesmaid and wedding dresses.
In her younger years, Angelina proved she had an artistic talent. In her later years, she tried painting again and was proud to produce many beautiful pictures, which adorn her home.
For many years, she was a member of the Barre Congregational Church and the Barre Area Senior Center, where she made many friends.
Angelina loved to play cards and spent many hours at the Center joining in all the activity and being with her friends.
Survivors include her son, Dennis Chioldi and his wife, Diane of Barre; a daughter-in-law, Ann Chioldi of Phoenixville, PA; four grandchildren John Chioldi, and Brian Chioldi and his wife, Jen all of Barre, Nicholas Chioldi and his wife, Jaime of Graniteville, and Stephanie Gilbert and her husband, Timothy of Manchester, NH; three great-grandchildren Lucy, Maddie and Mason Chioldi; her sister Gloria Johnson of South Barre; her brother Richard Piro of South Barre; as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Nevio in 2000, her son Stephen in 2013, her sister-in-law Genevieve Piro, and her brother-in-law Karl Johnson.
The service to celebrate and honor Angelina’s life will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. in the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre. Following the service, interment will take place in Hope Cemetery in Barre. There are no calling hours.
