BARRE – Angelina B. “Angie” Carpenter, 92, of Lincoln House, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at the Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin.
Born on September 17, 1923 in Barre, she was the daughter of Augusto and Lena (Checchi) Brignola. She attended North Barre Elementary School and graduated from Spaulding High School in Barre in 1942.
On November 24, 1945, Angie married Carlos R. Carpenter in the Barre Congregational Church. Following their marriage, they made their home in Barre and for many years resided on Cleary Street until moving to the North Barre Manor in 2006. Carlos died on February 14, 2011.
Angie worked for Vermont Probation and Parole as a bookkeeper and secretary, Barre Electric as a bookkeeper, and then as a secretary for an insurance company in Barre. For many years, she worked as a bookkeeper for her husband’s milk route throughout the Barre area until his retirement in 1982.
She was a member of the Barre Congregational Church, the Ruth Chapter OES in Barre, Masonic Camping Group and the National Camping Travelers, past member of the Women’s Auxiliary for the American Legion Post #10 in Barre and the VFW Post #792 in Montpelier.
Angie was an avid Red Sox fan, and enjoyed playing cards, fishing, reading, doing crossword puzzles, artwork and drawing, and bowling at the Astro Bowl, Twin City Lanes, and Tom’s Alleys. She also enjoyed her time spent at family camps on Curtis Pond and at Greenwood Lake.
She is survived by two daughters, Sharon Dupuis and her husband, Jacques of Sanford, ME and Janice Aldrich and her husband, Alan of East Montpelier; her grandchildren, Paul and Sherry Dupuis and their children, Cody and Dylan Dupuis; Dr. Marc Dupuis and his wife, Heidi; Liane and Jonathan Penley and their children, Kaylin, Dominic, and Riley; Jason and Ashley Aldrich and their children, Brady and Cameron.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by one brother, Carlo Mario Brignola, and one sister, Angela Brignola who died in infancy.
Her funeral Service and Celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, March 13, 2016, at 1:30 p.m. in the Barre Congregational Church. Interment will take place in the Hope Cemetery in Barre. Family and friends may call at the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre on Saturday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
