Andrew T. Tibbitts
MARSHFIELD – Andrew “Andy” Tuck Tibbitts, 67, a longtime resident of Taylor Farm Road, passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at his home with his loving family at his bedside.
Born on August 7, 1956, in Brattleboro, he was the son of Arnold and Colleen (Tuck) Tibbitts. He attended elementary school in the Old Schoolhouse Commons in Marshfield. He then went to Twinfield High School and graduated in 1974. Andy pridefully spent one year at Norwich University as a cadet, and was delighted that his eldest granddaughter chose to further her education there as well.
On December 31, 1977, Andy married Joanne Stratton in Marshfield. The two made their home in Plainfield where they soon welcomed their first child, Jessica, Andy’s first greatest love. They later moved to Barre where they welcomed two more children, Ryan and Lindsi. Upon their separation, Andy eventually moved back to Marshfield where he resided until his passing.
Andy started his career with UniFirst servicing many businesses in the Central Vermont and New Hampshire area. In 1985, while still employed with UniFirst, Andy ventured to start his own business, Barre Septic Service. He put his all into his business and very quickly it became his full time employment. He proudly served many residents of Central VT, forming many life-long friendships with his customers. His son and daughter, Ryan and Lindsi, worked alongside him in his later years helping to grow his business. This brought him great pride and joy.
Throughout his life, Andy had many hobbies and interests. The most important of those were going water skiing, taking hikes up Spruce Mountain, snowshoeing, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, taking walks in the woods, logging and cutting firewood, hunting and especially spending time with his family; including Sunday breakfasts with his eldest daughter, Jessica. Andy also enjoyed adventuring locally, nationally and internationally with his long-time cherished partner, Debra, who stayed by his side until his last moments.
Survivors include his son Ryan Tibbitts and his wife, Rita; his daughters Jessica Tibbitts and her fiancé, Jay Lunna and Lindsi Hull and her husband, Craig; his partner Debra Desroches and six grandchildren; Ariana, Amelia, Norah, Ada, Ronan and Lucy. He also leaves his two sisters Elizabeth Tibbitts and her husband, Mitch Kuninsky and Lucy Hall and her husband, Anthony; as well as his beloved niece, Sophie, and several loved cousins from the Colbert, Fee and Tibbitts families.
He was predeceased by his parents.
