Ana A. Cumming

BARRE – Ana Amelia (Amor) Cumming, 97, of Waterman Street passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at Woodridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born on March 12, 1926, in Barre City, she was the daughter of Abilio and Maria Luisa (Bedia) Amor, Sr.  Ana attended Brook Street Elementary School and graduated from Spaulding High School in 1944.

After graduation, Ana was employed in an administrative role with the United Steelworkers Union.

On November 29, 1958, she married Francis A. Cumming in Barre and then became a homemaker.

She was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd and in her spare time, she enjoyed painting, drawing, gardening, volunteering, collecting antiques and playing the organ.  Aunt Ana as she was called by her many nieces and nephews will be remembered for her staunch independence, devotion to family, artistic talents, forthright manner, and distinctive laugh.

Survivors include her brother Raymond C. Amor and her sister-in-law Gail Cumming as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband Francis A. Cumming, her brother and sisters and their spouses Dolores “Lola” (Amor) and Albert Rioux, Petra (Amor) and Angelo Calcagni, Esperanza “Espy” (Amor) and Gene Warnke, Louisa (Amor) and Rinaldo Puricelli, Anita (Amor) and Douglas Bailey, Abilio “Bill” Amor, and her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Martha “Bettie” Amor, Robert and Edith Cumming, and David Cumming.

The service to honor and celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. in the Hooker Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre.  There are no calling hours.
