BARRE

BARRE CITY - Our father, friend, grandfather, and brother, Aldo A. Coletti passed from this life on Wednesday July 6, 2016, at his home in Barre with his son by his side. He had battled cancer the last few months of his life.
He was born on January 31, 1942, the son of Edward and Gertrude Howe Coletti, in the city of Barre, Vt. where he lived all of his life. It is with heavy heart that we share with you his life, well lived. Aldo’s high school years were spent at Marion High School and he graduated from Spaulding High School in 1961 as a class officer. During his school years he was well known for his athletic abilities in basketball, baseball and bowling.
Soon after graduation from High School, Aldo married Margaret Gehlbach in January 1963. They later divorced. Three children were born to them, Aldo L. Coletti of Barre, Brian E. Coletti of Norton, VT and Mark A. Coletti of Williamstown, VT. Also surviving are his brothers, Michael Coletti of Barre and Edward Coletti of Florida and his sister, Loretta Coletti of Barre. His three grandchildren, Gabrielle, Emily and Mathew Coletti and his beloved daughter-in-law , Heather who helped with his final care. His parents Edward and Gertrude predeceased him.
Aldo was never very far from sports activities. He coached Little League Baseball and Babe Ruth League for many years. He always included most of the neighborhood boys in the back of his truck for the games. He always told the kids to go play a good and fair game and have fun. It wasn’t all about winning. He was admired for the patience he showed with all the children. He was an avid bowler and was a member of many championship bowling teams. He was the treasurer for the Barre Horseshoe League. He not only played, but ran many of the tournaments for more years than he could remember.
He loved playing cards and spent many hours at the Elk’s Club and the Mutuo and Moose Clubs of which he was a member, enjoying cribbage and pitch games.
Aldo, was a very talented and respected monumental draftsman, first for Giudici Brothers Granite Co. and then with Houle-Giudici Bros Granite Company until his retirement. His drafting skills were sought after not only in Vermont but in several states throughout the US.
After retirement he had more time for golfing and spending time with his grandchildren. They have many stories and memories about Grandpa that they hold close in their hearts. So now we say goodbye to the man who would growl like an old bear but anytime someone needed him, he would show you his big heart of gold. Rest well from a life well lived.
