WILLIAMSTOWN – Albert Gingras, 77, of Depot Street passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at his home with his loving family at his side.
Born March 5, 1942 in Washington, he was the son of Alphonse J. and Lucienne M. (Mercier) Gingras. Albert attended local elementary schools and Spaulding High School. After his schooling, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as an Engineer Corporal E4 until he was honorably discharged in 1966.
On October 12, 1968 he married Joan Marie Carrier. Following their marriage, they made their home in Barre City for a year before settling in Williamstown, where he lived the rest of his life. Joan passed away in 2014.
Albert was employed as a plumber/pipefitter with the Local 693 Plumbers/Pipefitters Union for fifty years. He was a member of the St. Edwards Catholic Church in Williamstown.
He enjoyed hunting, spending time with his family – especially his grandchildren, snowmobiling, his vegetable garden, travelling and the company of his special pet Yorkie, Chloe.
Survivors include his children Paula Beaudet, Peter Gingras and his wife, Kathy and Glenn Gingras and his wife, Danielle all of Williamstown, and Wendy Quadros of Graniteville; his grandchildren Justin Beaudet, Caitlin Beaudet, Jacob Gingras, Colby Gingras, Lauren Gingras, and Quinn Higgins; his brothers Armand Gingras and his wife, Cynthia of Barre, Raymond Gingras and his wife, Edie of East Barre, his sisters-in-law Emma Gingras of Waterbury and Aline Gingras of Longwood, FL; his brother-in-law Roland Carrier and his wife, Joy of Los Gatos, CA; his sister-in-law Dale Perkins and her partner, Rich Bobo of Rapid City, SD; his sister-in-law Carmen Phillips and her husband, Phil of Essex Jct; and his brother-in-law Steven Carrier and his wife, Tammy of Danville as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Joan Carrier Gingras, grandson Joseph Gingras, brothers Laurent and Henry Gingras, brothers and sisters-in-law Francis and Pauline Gingras and Maurice and Jeannine Gingras; his sister and brother-in-law Simone and Donald Patch and sister-in-law Brenda Carrier.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 2, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Edwards Catholic Church, 76 Beckett Street, Williamstown. There are no calling hours. Later inurnment will take place in the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery at the convenience of his family.
