Berlin

BERLIN - Alba B. Rossi, 108, passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at Woodridge Rehabilitation Center in Berlin.

Born on October 17, 1916, in South Ryegate, she was the daughter of Ezio and Aurora Benedini. She moved to Barre in 1920 and resided at 489 North Main Street with her two sisters Mary and Dora, and three brothers Peter, Mike, and Ezio. She attended Barre schools and graduated from Spaulding High School in 1934. After high school Alba worked as bookkeeper for the R. Sierra Granite Company.

On April 18, 1940, she married Theodore N. Rossi, and they made their home in Berlin from 1940 to 1990. Until 1980 she worked as the office manager for Theodore Rossi Trucking Company. She was a dedicated homemaker raising two sons, William and Theodore Rossi.

Alba’s life was filled with many friends as a member of the Hedding Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star, her bridge playing groups, and as a summer resident of Joe’s Pond for over thirty years. In the mid 1990’s she embarked upon several international travels with her good friend Sylvia Furloni. Her fine Italian cooking was enjoyed by all, and her recipes continue to be enjoyed.

Survivors include her son Theodore and his wife, Nancy of Stowe, and her daughter-in- law Diane Rossi of Cabot as well as several nieces and nephews.

Alba was predeceased by her husband Theodore in 1990, and her son William in 2021.

The family is most thankful for the thoughtful care that she received from the staff at Lincoln House in Barre and since May 2023, the nursing staff at Woodridge Rehabilitation, and the comforting care of Central Vermont Home Health and Hospice.

A private graveside service will be held at a future date in Hope Cemetery in Barre.
