EAST BARRE - Alan Armand Hebert, 61, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 7, 2017. He was pronounced upon arrival to CVMC.

He leaves his wife, Maryann Dexter Hebert of East Barre and three children: Brandy Plowman and her husband Michael, Bridgette Hutchinson and her husband David, Brandon Hebert and his wife Krystle and a special mention to Robert Quinlan who was as close as a son to Alan and his family Reta and Brooklynn.  His 11 grandchildren: Hunter, Gavin, Meliah, Liam, Dylan, Parker, Garrison, Nathan, Mackenzie, Caleb and Avery. His four siblings Vicki and her husband Peter Bresset, Steven and wife Beverly Hebert, Terry and wife Lorena Hebert, and Armand and wife Coni Hebert. Also survived by his mother in-law Margie Dexter, his brothers-in-law, Donald and wife Maggie Dexter, and Douglas Dexter and partner Sue Jones. Alan also left many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Alan was born on October 22, 1955 and after extensive travel was raised in Barre. He was the son of Charles and Barbara Hebert.

He served in the U.S. Army and Vermont Army National Guard as a career soldier for 33 years and retired as a Sargent Major in 2007. After retirement he worked as a financial office employee at the VA hospital in White River Jct.

Alan met his wife Maryann when they were in graded school and have been together ever since.  They have been happily married for the past 42 years and had three children that remain a very close family.

He loved camping, hiking, woodworking, teaching survival skills to the kids and spending time with his family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2017 from 11am to 2pm at the Barre Elks Club. All who wish to attend are welcome.
